Gosh, it's been an age and a half. Well, here are some new icons at last, more from my Topps X-Files comics collection.

The art is by Charles Adlard (#1-2) and John Van Fleet (#3-22). If you want an icon angel to get his wings, please make sure to give the artists their due credit!

Okay, ever since the new Star Trek movie came out, everyone has gone classic Trek crazy. Which is all fine and good if you ask me; credit where it's due. Since I'm apparently a shameless attention whore, here's my contribution to this fad: a few dozen Star Trek icons, mostly from the excellent episode The City on the Edge of Forever. Mind you, not nearly all TOS episodes were that good, but let's focus here...

These dinosaurs walked right out of the mist. I have no idea why, but I felt like iconing some slashy goodness from Jurassic Park III again.

Wow, these icons are all over the map. I once again realised that I had ended up with quite a few random icons, and decided to post them all in one go. The first batch is from quite an obscure film, even for Finns - Mika Kaurismäki's debut, Valehtelija from 1981. One of my favourite Kaurismäki films, actually.

18 Fallout icons!

I honestly don't know where this came from. I just really felt like iconating Fallout again, for some reason...

While I anxiously wait to get my hands on Fallout 3, here's some nostalgia for you fellow gamers!

The last batch of Fallout icons can be found here.

Now for some silly lesbian schoolgirl antics!

I know D.E.B.S. isn't the classiest movie out there, but dammit, it makes me giggle.

More Poirot icons!

Here we go, some Poirot icons. I should get around to capping some more of the episodes, as soon as I get a proper program for it... After all, I haven't made a single icon of Captain Hastings or Miss Lemon yet!

I decided to iconate some of my favourite comic book art. Some of these icons are quite old and have been sitting on my HD for a while, but I thought I might as well post all of them in one go. Jaime Hernandez's pics are from Love and Rockets, and I should really get around to scanning more of it, because there's gorgeous art galore and no one's iconing it! Terry Moore is of course known for Strangers in Paradise, but I have one icon from his earlier comics, too.

Yo-U Icons!

Share Flag
I decided to celebrate my new scanner by making a batch of Matou Sanami's Yo-U (By the Sword) icons. These are from the so far untranslated volume three; I wish someone would pick up the series again, or I'm going to have to scanlate it myself... And stop fooling around with BL doujinshi and finish volume four already, Matou!

To those who've read the translated two volumes, there are no spoilers here, if you don't count the appearance of a new baddie and a sweet romantic moment.

Now that I'm done with the Oz challenge, I'm finally going to tackle something fun and obscure: The X-Files cover art. What with the new movie (which I quite enjoyed) coming out, my X-geeking is in full swing. There are some great X-Files icons out there, but I've never seen anyone make icons of Miran Kim's fantastic and creepy art. She drew all covers for the official Topps comic series - which was classic stuff; I urge you to seek it out if you're a fellow X-Phile.

I threw in some other concept/cover art I found while searching for her pictures. The first 36 are Kim's; the rest I haven't been able to recognise. If anyone knows the names of the artists, give a holler.

Edit: Thank you, nuclearfootball - #38-40 are by John Van Fleet.

As ever, I want to remind you that it's polite to credit the artist as well as the icon maker. Kim deserves recognition for her wonderful works - and believe it or not, she doesn't use a computer at all...

Artsy icons!

I'm taking a break from working on my crimedrama100 challenge and posting some art icons. I did very little to pretty these up - it's all the work of the original artists. If you want to be polite and receive a nice dose of good karma, credit them in the keywords.

There are less Tony DiTerlizzi icons because his art is more difficult to find online. I may make some more when I get a working scanner again...

100 Oz icons

I needed a good excuse to iconate Oz, so I signed up for crimedrama100. What an appropriate comm for this set, no? If you've never watched Oz, seriously, do it. It's one of the best drama series ever.

Here there be spoilers.

I'm a big fan of Don Bluth cartoons, but I have to say, I think the sequel to An American Tail is almost better than the original. It's funnier and has some great songs (including one from Blues Brothers!), and I'm usually a tough sell on both. In the original dub, there's also John Cleese as the main baddie cat doing a smashing job, and James Stewart as the sheriff in his last ever film role. I love the Finnish dub, though; it's what I grew up with. ;)

What is it with me and FFX? I can't seem to stop iconing it. Anyway, most of these FFX icons are made from doujinshi pics found floating around the intarwebs. If I knew who originally drew them, I'd credit. Do let me know if you happen to recognise any of these (especially that one with Rikku and Malboro tentapr0n. I need it for... science).

Oh, and some Yami no Matsuei icons, too. Mostly cracky, all from the manga.

The Thing icons!

Share Flag
I have much nostalgic love for Campbell's Who Goes There?, which I read at a much too early age and which gave me a serious UFO phobia that only extensive X-Files therapy could cure. John Carpenter's The Thing, for all its gore, is a pretty accurate adaptation, in my opinion. The paranoia, the darkness, the bleakness; it's all there. Not even Kurt Russell's unnatural amount of facial hair can pierce the harrowing atmosphere.

So here we go, a big batch of The Thing icons. Beware of smart-assness. And beware of spoilers, too, I guess, if you haven't seen this classic, you heathen.

I'm back after a long hiatus! Well, longish. I moved and had computer trouble, but my iconing fingers are itchy, so you should see lots of updates here in the coming months...

Let's start off with this batch of Poirot icons. I'm a big fan of the series - can't wait to see Suchet in Murder on the Orient Express later this year! These icons are all from Five Little Pigs, partly because it includes the terrific Rachael Stirling. Then again, it's Poirot - all ladies are either beautiful or tragic, or both.

This time, icons from my favourite Pedro Almodóvar film. I think I'm starting to get used to making textless icons; the faces tell the whole story in most of these.

In order to celebrate the unveiling of the long-awaited Fallout 3 trailer, I made 30 Fallout icons. Almost all are from Fallout 2, because that's the one I like and have played the most.

I also made some tabletop RPG icons, because they're few and far between. Most have something to do with Dungeons & Dragons, because it gives such ample opportunities to fondly mock the geek culture.

Just half a dozen icons this time. I was making an inside joke icon for our RPG group (this one), and ended up making more general icons from Tove Jansson's illustrations, because she rocks the good stuff.

More kitty icons! And even more are on their way. My lame excuse is that I just can't get enough of cats.

Also, some Kingdom Hearts icons - mostly from Skies of Memory, because it made KH1 so much better for me. Here's hoping I'll get my hands on KH2 at some point in the near future, too... No spoilers here.

And here we go, Mimi wo Sumaseba icons. It's a lovely, lovely Ghibli film that is criminally unappreciated; go find it and watch it for great squishyness!

I don't usually make textless icons, but this time there were so many that I decided to put them in their own table. I've gone through about half of the bases I made, so watch this space for more. Unless I get sick of the Japanese version of Country Roads. Mind, after hearing it about 50 times in as many hours and still finding it adorable, it's not really likely.

Big icon post this time! And I'm going to make another post for the even bigger pile of Mimi wo Sumaseba icons. Hold on to your pantaloons.

[7] Black Books (mostly from the first season Outtakes)

I'm almost ashamed to post these, as I did very little to prettify these icons. They're just beautiful pictures I found and decided to turn into icons.

Cats and hobbits!

Kitty-cat icons! Pictures snagged from all over the internet. I tried to use pictures that haven't been included in too many macros as of yet...

Oh, and I also made some LotR icons of screencaps I took while making this icon. They're all from the same scene - I think that one Pippin picture was from a bit earlier in the film, though...

No new icons this time, I just wanted to let you know that all my icons are neatly arranged in tables now, thanks to this extremely nifty icon table generator.

I did join abc_icons, though, and as soon as they approve my claim, will finish the FFX alphabet set. Other FFX icons are also on their way. God, I really need a PS2...

October 28th, 2006

I'm really determined to kick some life into this iconjournal of mine, so here are my old Bioware icons. No new stuff here at all, I'm afraid - every icon has been posted in my journal before. Still, they've never all cuddled close like this! Oh, and some of them are older than the others, so the quality might do the odd hop and plummet.

Spoilers, spoilers, all around!
